Hey, I've been running 2 6600gt's for about a year now. They really do perform great for what they are. It has no troubles with maxing games like HL2, WoW. But with the recent release of quakewars, and TF2, It starts to struggle. I have a 20" dell monitor w/ a native of 1680x1050, but playing at that resolution isn't very important to me. I just want something moderate and on the cheaper side. I'm just unsure of what would be better than my 2 6600's for around 200$. Doesn't have to be dx10 either.. Although i've had my eye on the 320 8800gts, i just don't think i game enough to spend 280-300$

check out the 7900 GS it has 256 mb memory and 256 bit interface it is a powerful card
and if you want to you can add another later if you keep your SLI board
the 8600 gt only has 128 bit interface and it holds it back,probably even more so when using in SLI mode
but no DX 10
 
yea, that was the only thing holding me back from the 8600gts.. so do u think either would be a considerable difference, big enough to spend the 200$ vs my 6600's.. which seem comparable to a 6800gt
 
I was going to recommend the 7900GS at first, but the 8600 GTS is still faster in reviews. But they are both at the same price point though.
 
ok Get a 512 version on Either

X1950 Pro

or 7900GS " better if you have a cool case overlclocks like a meniac.

trust me on that.
 
they got a 7900 gs at newegg for $119 and check out tom's hardware reviews video card chart you can select 2 different cards and then pick a game or benchmarking test and it will show you the frames per second and help let you see what the difference would be
 
thats cool @ toms, i didn't know you could do that. Looks like either will be about double the performance of my cards now. Thanks guys
