Looked on newegg and saw that the Accelerator Series of cache drives is discontinued?

What's up?

I was looking to buy another 60GB model. They are scarse everywhere and way overpriced.

Are you bringing out something new? Or have these suddenly become teh suck?
 
So maybe this is what happened?

If Samaung bought Nvelo, they may have taken the software proprietary, thus the retailers like Corsair, crucial and OCZ are now stuck holding the bag?

Wouldn't you just know it.....I love my Accelerators:mad:
 
I think the Samsung acquisition is a reasonable theory, but I haven't seen anything to confirm it.

Is there anything special about the drive itself, or is it the software that makes it different than a regular SATAII SSD? Corsair is still listing them for sale on its website (at $100). FWIW, it looks like you can download the software without any restrictions, so you might be able to use a different SSD with the same software (on a different PC; you're limited to one cache drive, per the system requirements).

This is a basic cache SSD, nothing fancy.
Crucial and OCZ sell the same thing, but lower capacity.
The software is tied to the purchase by a key in the package, the software is what makes the drive worth the price, IMO.

It's unfortunate, I bought two 60 GB drives off newegg for around 70 dollars each in September.
Now they are all priced at full retail.

They work very well in combination with a standaed HDD.
 
I'd like to hear an official statement from Corsair on this...makes me worried as an owner of a 45GB Accelerator to now have discontinued brand new just-released hardware in my box.

Yes, this is my worry too.
I have two 60GB and two 45GB drives, seeing this statement on newegg made me really nervous.

However, seeing that nvelo was purchased by Samsung sort of shed some light on this.

The system is worthless without the software.
If Samsung is not allowing it to be used by other companies, we're SOOL.
