A few years back I picked up the GameTheater XP. Its been a very reliable card for me and the breakout box makes it easy for up front USB and Headphone conections. i never really had a problem with the card except for a driver installation issue. Im thinking of upgrading my mobo and CPU and was wondering if i should just forego the more than 3 year old sound card in favor of the new on board audio that most people seem to enjoy. The support for the GameTheater XP isnt really out there and I cant afford anything Creative. Please post any comments at all. Thanks

Use it, it's a damn good card overall. EAX advanced HD isn't really special for games anyway. The Game Theatre XP supports Directsound 5.1 so it should be fine. I have a GTXP in my closet in the box, it was nice but the freak breakout box got jacked. The line out like has to be wiggled around to get the sound to play from both speakers. The warranty ran out last year too 
. So I ended up buying the audigy2 zs.. Otherwise i'd still be using it. Drivers for the card aren't that bad... If you ahve problems getting the drivers off Hercules site, let me know I have them on my yahoo account and I can post em.

It's a great piece of hardware, and all you have to do is show that cable to the ladies at a LAN party and they all come a' runnin' . In terms of wiggling the jacks, I'd look at the enormous D connector at the end, my GTXP had a problem with the line outs, and it was caused by bent pins (That thick cord seems to weigh stuff down quite a bit). Just a thought in that direction.
