So I got a new pc from ibuypower.com a few weeks ago (amd 64 2800+, abit kv8 pro, evga 6800 gt, 512x2 ddr-400 ram) and when I got it and hooked everything up all it would do is beep constantly when I tried to start it, so I called tech support and they said it was the ram so they sent me new ram and it still doesn't work, anyone have any other suggestions on what it could be and how I might be able to fix it?
 
try assembleing it outside the case. That worked for me (until I figured out the problem).
 
Did you plug the extra power connector into the vid card.
That beeps at you if not done.
Constant high pitched beeps could also be the CPU overheat alarm.
Check that the heatsink is on right.

how would I go about doing that?

So they sold you an untested product (or maybe it got banged up on shipping) and you're trying to troubleshoot it yourself? Tell them to fix it. It's their job.
 
if you want to check if the power connector is on right, look at ur vid card. is there a molex conector on it? if so, is there a cable running out of it, and is it plugged in? also, to check your heatsink, unclip it and see if they used thermal paste. and see if it is making firm contact with the processor. but if you really dont want to mess with these, id say rma the whole thing.
 
that is the sata power adapter for your hard drives. you shouldnt need it if there is a molex connector running into your hard drive.
