help!!!

i went to plug in my compute and a huge ass spark came out of the power supply, and my whole upper level shut off. i reset the breaker, but when i plugged my computer in again i got another spark and my surge protector shut off. could it be that my power supply suddenly broke?

Yes it could quite easily.....

Yep, sounds like an AC short inside, or the fuse going to save the rest of the supply. Unplug everything, dissasemble your case, and try it just with the motheboard on a piece of cardboard so as to eliminate all possible shorts.

yeah you could possibly have cooked the mobo, but hopefully the fuse in the PSU took all the hit.

i just tried three different power supplies on the core components, and all three of them ran for two seconds then died. nothing even posted. could it be a dead motherboard or cpu?

Yank the CPU and try just turning on tower then...it won't post but if it still arcs then you know the problem is somewhere else...

is there any way i can tell for sure whats wrong without a spare? all of my friends have intels and theres no way to swap or anything. I have to be sure which part died on me so i can order a new one for an upcoming lan party.
