just bougth a New pc and having lil trouble
Spec:
mobo :BIOSTAR nForce2 IGP Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket A CPU, Model "M7NCG 400" -RETAIL
cpu: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ "Barton", 333 FSB, 512K Cache Processor - Retail
grahpics: PnY ti 4200
ram: 2X of Kingston ValueRAM 184 Pin 256MB DDR PC-3200 - Retail
case: ASPIRE Turbo Case X-Dreamer Black Mid-Tower Case with 350W Power Supply, Model "ATXB3KLW/350W"

and i connected everything .
Then i push the power button and all the fans light up for liek 2 sec and then it turns off.

Dose anyone know what the problem could be ?

It turns on for 2 sec then turns off agin...

Help PLZ
 
sounds like a short or something of the like. Unplug everything, and only plug in the basics.

No cdrom, dvd, hard drive.

Just plug in vid card, psu, proc, and ram.

Try again.

Actually, you could just remove everything and power it on just as a PS in a case (Disconnect from the MOBO as well). This way if there is a short there is no risk to "Any" of the other componants. If the system only runs for 2 secs again then it is the PS, possibly the switch. Cheaper to replace the PS than fight with just the switch. Just the HW techie in me. ;)
 
check the cmos jumper

my comp turns on for just a short burst when its in the clear position.
 
Is your heatsink on properly? If its very poorly seated or the thermal compound isn't applied well, it could be enough so that your CPU overheats immediately.
 
i tried a diffrent ps and it did the same thing on for 2 sec and the off once agin i unpluged the cd-rw/hd/vid/and fas and still did the same thing.
 
well i did apply some arctic silver 5 snd i am tring to run the stock amd heatsink
 
Sounds like Heatsink is not on fan power plug, or Heatsink is not on CPU very well. Reseat it with artic silver.
 
did you make sure and check to see if your PS is set to 115V also make sure to check that your heat sink is on right, other wise computer wont start or some times goes off and on
