• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

hey guys,

new here, and i cam for some help. Not quite sure if this is the right forum to put it in, but im in need of help.

recently i have had to do a system recovery on my computer which runs on windows xp. my sister and i both use the computer, so we had seperate profiles.

after the system recovery, i discovered that i could not access the files that were password protected, as it deleted the profiles completely, but left the data entact.

My other data files are intact such as my mp3's, but my sisters video;s are trapped in those files.

Now i am unable to access these files. Our comp holds bout 100 gigs worht of space and 70 of it is currently being held up in these files. I cant even delete them, as the error "access denied" keeps showing up.

can ne one help?

I'm assuming you're wanting to access these files, or are you just trying to delete them?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Yesterday I installed my brand new motherboard (NF7-s v2.0) and had to do a reinstall Winxp pro on my primary OS hard drive. I thought ok, no big deal, I'll just blow it away because I was smart and have the my documents folder on another drive. So, I reformat....get on... and CRAP can't get to my documents because I had the folder set to private. I thought I had lost my mp3's and digital photos forever. You guys were my last hope.

Using the above method I was able to regain access to my folder and all of my files and subfolders. You guys are livesavers, and I should have known better than to come here last. Next time I'll come to the [H] first!

Thanks again guys. :)
