hey guys. iv bought a cd copy of windows 8 . i was running linux before i bought it. iv put the cd in the drive and its all goes fine. but it keeps booting into linux not windows 8... please help!

go into your BIOS and set the optic drive as first boot, but seriously, windows 8?

i just want to run win. no linux. linux pissed me off it cant run anything i want it to.

Win 8 is fine, I've been running it on multiple computers for months with no problems. My whole family can use it just fine. Just go into your BIOS and change the boot order, or sometimes there is a shortcut on startup that will let you choose what you want to boot first. Boot the CD then just format the HDD and install W8. Make sure you have a backup of everything though since everything will be gone from the linux partition. There shouldnt be a problem of booting into linux then.

I think the OP is saying that they were able to install Windows but it is boothing into Linux instead. Its been a while since I've played with Linux but it sounds like a GRUB issue. I would run that through google =)

GRUB needs to be removed. Usually doing a windows repair with the repair cd will solve this after deleting the linux partition....

Boot your linux livecd, open a command prompt and run the following:

Code:
su -
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=2
reboot

Replace linux livecd with win8 install dvd and install.

lol i fixed it myself the other day xD. delete hdd data format = fresh windows boot then bf3 for life ;)
