I have P5k deluxe. I wana ask few questions.

1) Whenever I power on my cpu it powers off then on. What is this. I have figured out that if I keep my settings in bios at standard then it doesn’t do this. Is it kind of malfunctioning. How to overcome this?

2) Secondly I want a software which is capable of monitoring NB, SB, ICH, MCH etc all kind of temperatures.

3) I have corsair XMS 6400 ram. How much voltage will it endure. It is rated for 1.8V. How to check ram’s temperature.

1) I have P5B-Deluxe and this behavior is normal only when you change BIOS settings. Under a standard power on, it shouldn't do it. Does your machine do the on-off-on on every single boot, or just when you monkey around in the BIOS?

2) I'm not sure that there is software to monitor all those items (I'm not even use Asus has sensors for all of them btw). You can try CPUID HWMonitor which gives most temps on your board. Speedfan will give you your NB temp (among others).

3) If the DIMMs are rated for 1.8 V, I wouldn't recommend overvolting them. As far as I know, you can't monitor your RAM's temp.
 
Run a fan over NB and memory, and that will really cool them down, and you won't need to worry about watching the temps. I have read that if you can't hold your finger on them for the count of ten, then a fan is needed. ;)
 
@Britbum: Thanks for the reply. I tested it today by putting my fingure on NB, it was not warm. so I think i don't need any extra fan for this.

2) Can you tell me what is AVCC, VIN1, VIN3, SYSTIN, CPUTIN.


3) I have read somewhere that all the ddr2 rams can easily endure 2.1V and is safe for them. Is it true?

Dunno what to tell you about that. Mine will do it only if I change some settings in the BIOS and then save them/reboot (it only happens once, subsequent cold boots are fine). If it really bugs you, go ahead and post yer question at the official Asus P5K Del forum. It might be something as simple as a BIOS update.

2) Can you tell me what is AVCC, VIN1, VIN3, SYSTIN, CPUTIN.

Dunno about the first three voltages, but I believe SYSTIN is the readout from your Northbridge sensor and CPUTIN is the readout from the virtual sensor on your C2D/C2Q. To the best of my knowledge, C2D/C2Q chips do not have a physical sensor in the geometric mean of the IHS. I think this output is based on the physical core thermal diodes. I also think you'll find the output from these two 'sensors' to match up with the BIOS temp monitors.

My advice is always read the core temps from either this app, or from coretemp.

I don't think that's true since there are pretty substantial quality differences in DIMMs. I would always use what your manufacture recommends as the max voltage for your RAM unless you don't care about damaging/destroying it.

3. I have the same RAM as you Corsair XMS2-6400 and my are rated for 2.1V according to the sticker on the RAM....dont quote me but I believe its 1.8 for 5-5-5-15 or 2.1 for 4-4-4-12....at least thats how I run mine :D

Good news about ram. So now i can pump it up to 2.1V without any fear of frying it..:D?
