Help!

ok, i finally found it by going thru admin tools..But i have a question regarding partitions. Im only going to use this as a storage drive for my music, videos, etc... I have a choice of Primary or Extended, what suits the type that i want to use?

Primary. The only reason to create an extended partion with logical drives is if you wnat more than four file systems on a basic disk, as basic disks may have only four primary partitions or three primary and one extended.

ok, its set in primary. Funny, the total GB im getting is 298GB. What happened to the 20gb?

Mainly the amount of space lost through manufacturers measuring in base 10 and windows measuring in base 2. I believe there is/was a class action lawsuit about it. It's always been around since the dawn of hard drives AFAIK.

You lose some space for the file system too.

i believe it is still going on. and yes, i think the HD manufacturers are well within their right to post the drive in gigabytes. windows measures drive space in gigabinary. people just need to learn their computers before they make frivolous law suits.
