when i hook it up to the pc it says" a power connector is not plugged in the video card please refer to manual" does this make my card dead? i already connected a power connector to it and it says this...does this mean my card is dead
 
It is possible. But could be other factors

1. What is the make and wattage of your Powersupply
2. is the power connector you attached clean?? (Meaning no other devices powered along the same chain)
3. When you plug it in, does it feel loose or wobbly??
 
i spoke with an online technician and he said i cant use my hard drive connecto to connect to the video card and i had to use another cable that is made specially for the card... is this true?
