I realize this card is ancient, but it was still working fine and being used up until this morning. Then all of a sudden the screen went blank. I tried rebooting and there were red lines all over the screen, furthermore, the screen went blank again the windows load screen finished. Can anyone offer me some assistance other then "buy a new card" which I won't do because the whole system is so damn old.

Swap the card out and put another one in. Should tell you if your video card is bad or if its something else.
 
i still use a voodoo5 in one of my computers, and I have an extra voodoo5 that isn't being used anymore. I'll sell it to you for $20.00 + shipping. :p
 
if all obvious troubleshooting shooting is out of the way, like checking the sturdiness of vga connections and whatnot, then yes, i'm sorry, u have to buy a new card :). like u said, its a very old card; don't be too suprised that it died on you so suddenly, shit like that happens all the time. i see there being no problme wit you purchasing something like this

it definitely is the video card because the computer runs fine off the 8MB of integrated video it has. Secondly, the card was PCI and unfortunately the computer has no AGP slot.

The specs:
Pentium 3 600
192 MB of Ram
120 GB HD
Voodoo 3 PCI
 
Well your cards gpu bit the dust...hate to say it bud but yes you do indeed need to purchase a new card... heck I think you can pick up a badboy geforce1 or 2 for under 20.00 bucks.
 
old old old buy a new 6800 or a 5200 whatever suits you best :D
