Help with tweeking AM2

I have an MSI K9N Platinum that's giving me headaches. Basically I have the CPU at 2750ghz (250HTTx11) but the Memmory's only running 305mhz (2750/9 = 305mhz.) The ram is OCZ DDR2-800 but when I come close to that... 2750/7 for 392mhz (DDR 785) the system become unstable (BSOD's, Prime95 fails, etc.)

I haven't seen any reviews for this motherboard anywhere explaing all the options in the bios, so I am kind of lost at times looking for it. Last machine was an AXP and with it, 1:1 FSB till the processor or memmory gave out, and call it good. Thanks for the help.

You're not the only one having trouble with that RAM. I hear Corsair PC-800 DDR2 is good.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I (and many others) had issues with OCZ PC1066 RDRAM. It turned out they had repackaged their PC800. Hopefully that's not what's going on.

yes-identical pins, motherboards that support 1066 also support 800.

The thing that confused me was the "RDRAM" part. I don't think could be incompetent enough to mislabel RDRAM as SDRAM... Unless his name is G. W. Bush, (Another topic ENTIRELY.)

So yah...Back on topic, anyone got this MSI board and running into this problem?

Edit: And would someone please tell me that this "MCP55 to AM2 Freq (200, 400, 600, 800, 1000)" is for? I assume its for talking to the Northbridge, and It's currently set to 400 and 16up/16down

Actually, its for Southbridge to CPU. I have the mobo manual right in front of me.. Here's what it says.

MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) Freq. Auto
[enabled] - Auto dectect HT frequency
[disabled] - manual setting HT frequency

MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) Frequency
When the MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) Freq. Auto is set to Disabled, the item will appear. This item allows you to select the frequency from Southbridge to CPU.

MPC55(SB) to AM2(CPU) LinkWidth
This item allows you to select the HT width from SB to CPU.

Anyhow, in the motherboard book, it shows them DISABLE the MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) Freq. Auto.
Then they have the Frequency set to 1000MHz and LinkWidth set to 16up 16down.
It should look like this..

MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) Freq. Auto [DISABLED]
MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) Frequency [1000 MHz]
MCP55(SB) to AM2(CPU) LinkWidth [16up 16down]

Thanks for the links and explinations...

I dunno... this thing is buggring over 250 HTT, even with everything droppped to it's lowest multipliers... Meh...

So as it stands right now its at 2.750 GHZ, 610 DDR2, and 250HTT, thinking I'll just tighten the memory timing's down and be done with it. For now at least...
