I got a new mobo and on the IO plate, there are a lot of little tabs around each opening. It's making it hard to place it right. Am I supposed to remove them or just deal with them?
I've never had to remove those tabs, they usually seat in between the plugs ok. I would check and make sure you've got all your standoffs lined up with the holes correctly, and also make sure you have a standy for each open hole. Sometimes if you dont screw each one down it can cause the board to move around a bit and make life difficult for lining up. Ill usually hold the mobo on an angle, putting the port side in first, then setting it down onto the standys. You can then wiggle it around til it locks in for screwing. If it still doesn't fit, my next suggestion would be to dremel the hell out of the lil bugger till you can get it to fit the way you want. Easy to knock off, and very satisfying when your in this situation
I just found out that they are used to reduce electromagnetic interference. So I think I'm gonna keep them on. Except for the ones that got in the way of the USB ports.
