hi
I am after some advice on individual specifications for a system i hope to build in the near future. I am looking for a system suitable for 3D work - modelling and rendering using 3DS MAX & AutoCAD; some high end graphic work using photoshop and of course gaming - Half Life 2 etc. Any advice would be very appreciated as I have been out of the computer market for some time now - I am currently using a PII 400 and the usual accompanyment of antiques.
Here is the rough outline spec for what i would like:-
- I am looking for a fast AMD processor (best value for money). Not sure what the AMD 64 is all about and what benifit it would be to me.
- Like the look of the ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe although not sure having read [H]ard review.
- Would like 2 Gig of RAM - no idea about type, speed or make.
- Good size hard drive or perhaps 2 Hard Drives as this seems to be the current trend.
- Not fussed about sound - What's a good SoundBlaster card?
- Good ATI or Nvidea graphics card (Don't want to stretch to a 3D LABS Oxygen or Wildcat card as i don't have the money).
- Keeping monitor and happy with current peripheral devices. Would like a DVD recorder - what's the best value for money.
- What kind of case and cooling do i need to get?
It would be great if you could help me with any of the above.
Cheers and sorry the message is so long
