Help with SMP Client install

I recently decided to run the smp client on my quad instead of the basic cpu client I have been running for a couple of months now. I completely removed the previous cpu client and ran ccleaner. I have read the instructions and turned off both my firewall and anti-virus but when I try to run install.bat I keep getting this:

Any ideas whats wrong?

Also, If I run install.bat as Administrator I get this and only this:

'smpd' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'mpiexec' is not recongized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'mpiexec' is not recongized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Press and key to continue . . .

Any help much appreciated.

Not totally sure but I'd try redownloading the package and starting over as it looks like its cant find some of the needed files. It also appears to be some permissions issues. Is this on Vista?

^ Yes, Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

If ou open up a command prompt as administrator and then run install bat it should work. At least it did for me

A couple things to add to what's already been said.

1. Make sure you're not installing in "Program Files," that can be troublesome.
2. When you're giving credentials, don't actually type the username, just hit enter there.

Hmmm - I've never tried it on 64 bit Windows. You did get the correct version for that I assume. It looks like there is only one version that will work for you. http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther Hopefully some other with experience running this under 64 bit Vista will chime in.

You cannot install DEINO on a 64-bits OS so you must delete them and get the MPICH version. Follow the guide in the [H]orde guides sticky

1. I am installing it into a folder on the c drive (which I named FAH). This is the folders path C:\FAH\

Yep, downloaded the MPICH version and am following the instructions to a t (even naming the folders exactly as said) and still no dice.


Does anyone know why it keeps telling me this at the very beginning:

It should be saying this:

MPICH2 Process Manager, Argonne National Lab installed.

"Access is denied. (error 5)" mean that you are running the command prompt in non-administrator mode. You must run the command prompt with the "Run as administrator" to give full rights. Under Vista, even if you are a administrator, it's not 100% full unlike XP.

Right, but when I run it with it with administrative rights this is all I get:

Try moving first to the right folder, don't run as "c:\FAH\install.bat"... When you run that file, it look at the current folder but since you aren't in C:\FAH but in C:\Windows\System32, it cannot find the needed files.

Do that instead :

cd \
cd FAH
install.bat
