Help with router

Is the router in the gargage setup to use the main router as the gateway? A pic might help also, we can get this working!

Also did it work before the WAP upgrade? If so, try turning it off and see if something is messed up with the WAP. The WAP upgrade (firmware upgrade I'm guessing) might have reset these devices to factory defaults also.

I think it was the WEP encryption that hosed the situation, plus there must be some different setting now. The problem is I have a router going through a WAP to another router..... I've got it set up to Obtain the IP addresses Automatically, but have also tried manually setting the Default Gateway and DNS.... I think there may have initially been a conflict in IPs between the Gateway IP of the main router and the primary address of the secondary router.... I'm not even certain what to photo.

1. Cable Modem -----> 2. Wireless Router (Belking 54G) ------> 3. Belkin WAP ------> 4. Linksys Router (10/100) ------> 5. Computer

2. Wireless Router has:
Local IP: 192.168.2.1
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
Domain: Gomer

3. Belkin WAP:
Local IP of 192.168.2.254

4. Linksys Router:
Set on IP lookup
Local IP of 192.168.3.1
WAN: IP 192.168.2.5
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1

5. Computer
Local IP of: 192.168.3.101
Default Gateway: 192.168.3.1
DNS Suffix:Gomer

Edit: Added info in Blue
edit2: Changed color to something readable

If the path is good but I can't get to the internet.... is that usually a Gateway issue?

It is now working.... I think the conflict was that the local IP address of the router was conflicting with the primary DNS??? They were originally 192.168.1.1 (Default of Linksys and Belkin respectively). Once I change the second router's primary IP to 192.168.3.1 and then let it find the Gateway and DNS information everything started working.

Please let me know if you think my analysis is correct. I would like to ensure I learn from this.

Thanks All....

Hey Marty, you didn't even wave on the way past, which happened a little early due to my loss of 4Ghz for 5 days (on business trip when this problem started)

Fold on!

That's a very interesting network scheme... :) Just a touch confusing. Why exactly you now have 3 subnets, xxx.xxx.1/2/3.xxx I'm lost. But if it's working, write the numbers down and call it even. The WAP must have a gateway of 192.168.2.1. Ahh, looks like your cable modem is also doing NAT by the 192.168.1.1 gateway.

OK- 20 bucks to whom ever can hack into one of those boxen in the garage. Just kidding, it's just like three different NAT's there.

As for waving past, hey you've got more points than I and that's all that really counts from Stanford's eye, right? Points = actual work done.

And onto the sad news, I've had to take much of the farm down. My peak day so far was 6,080 PPD, I liked that day. I've been installing/moven tons of boxen around, come Monday I'll have to blow away all them. Got 20 more boxen coming in, will onle be able to keep the folding for 1-2 weeks at most. After that should be getting 50 boxen to fold for 1-2 months thou....

For the record, I did actually cap the #1 producer spot for just a little while, got me a screeny. :D

Albit a short run, I'm stuck being a folder now. Got ~25 gzh which will be going 24/7/356 forever, with times peaking upto 100-150 gzh.

Thanks for the info. And getting the 7Ghz back up and running will certainly help the team. I'll be adding the CPU from Kyle and then I think I'll be steady for a while at a total of ~13Ghz of processing. Now I just have to minimize the downtime.
