Help with Raid

I feel like such an idiot cause i cant figure it out. But anyways i am trying to raid my 2 80gig drives to a raid 0. I've read my motherboard manual and it's not very descriptive :rolleyes: . I go into the bios and enable the raid and then go into the raid bios and set it to stripe and move the drives over to where the are supposed to be and when I reboot into windows it says hard disk error. I got a raid driver disk w/ my board but i have no idea whats goin on, im completely clueless. Someone plz help the n00b.
 
A good place to start would be the hardware being used :)

Did you get any status message in the controller bios that the array had been built?
Did you install said driver in windows? Does the disk management mmc snapin see the array? At what point do you get the hard disk error and what is the specific text of the error?

Going to need a bit more info.
 
maybe if you were a little more clear on the problem, people may help you despise the anti-raid-0-for-gamer-desktop stance.

You were aware that RAID-0ing drives will destroy the data on the two drives that you are striping, right? You surely must have another HDD to boot from since "when I reboot into windows it says hard disk error". That statement leads me to believe that you are in the GUI and get this error from somewhere. I would suggest to install the raid driver that came with your mobo in order to access the newly created array. You will need to format it before you can use it.

sorry if i was unclear. yes i know i have to reformat the drives and i was not in a gui. i get the message when windows goes to install, normally when it says boot from cd. that is replaced by hard disk error. but i believe i figured out the problem, i google'd it and found a couple helpfull threads. minor mistake on my part, thanx for the replys.
