Ive had my rack for a little while that Ive been using for my ccna lab but i just recently got my first rack mount case and slides.

case: CHENBRO RM41300-FS81 Black Steel / Plastic 4U Rackmount Server Case for Tesla GPU 3 External 5.25" Drive Bays - Newegg.com

slides: CHENBRO 84H342310-001 Slide Rails - Newegg.com

I think im either doing something stupid or this is just the way it is but I dont think the slides are supposed to mount to the front of the rack but im not sure how to mount it to the back when using cage nuts. The other issue is the slides only mount at one height on the side of the case but if I mount them there the holes int the ears on the case dont line up with the rack. Not that it matters because I couldnt push it all the way back anyway because the slide is in the way. What am I doing wrong?

You're doing it right. For those rails, the only way (I think) to mount the ears is to have them in front of the post like you have it. By the way, I have the same rack and just installed the same rails like 5 minutes ago.

Two things: 1. You can loosen the two nuts on the front piece that mounts to the post and slide it forward a bit. You'll have to loosen the back ones too, but you should be able to slide the whole thing forward a little, tighten them back down, and get the case ears to sit a little closer to the rack.

2. Try moving the whole thing either one square up or one square down. The squares are not all equidistant from one another, so doing this may make the holes on your case line-up with the holes on the post...at least one of them. That will keep it from sliding forward when you're plugging in cables on the back.

I hope this helps. I know it's been over a month but maybe this will keep someone else from going through the troubleshooting like we did.

Half level Mounts? I havent seen that before. I also do not have Chenbro gear so maybe its a common thing with them. The rails look a little thin for a 4U chassis.
