I read through the stickies but I still have some questions.
My build is as follows
P4 630 on an ASUS P5LD2-VM
with 1GB if DDR2 800
an ATI X1900Xt flashed to XTX
Swiftech pump, Rad and Storm2 Water block
1 DVD-RW combo drive and a mitsumi floppy drive (neglible)
I would like to OC this thing as high as possible but when I hit 3.9 the screen blacks out on me under heavy gaming.

My current PSU is a rosewill 550w modular supply (see link).

After reading the sticky regarding Intel p4's I think I may need a better single rail PSU. Considering I would at least like 4ghz stable, would the OCZ modstream 520w be a good choice ? Keep in mind I was told the vid card requires almost 30a

Honestly what ever will work and be stable. As long as its not ridiculously priced (eg.$500) i will strongly consider. The other factor to take into consideration is that this is going into a Qpack so space is limited.

*edit: Where i listed OCZ modstream, I meant powerstream.

I went ahead with the OCZ Powerstream520. Anyone thinks thats a bad idea please let me know :)

Had to cancel my order after someone informed me that the Powerstream520 will not fit in a Qpack. I am back to square one now. Again the specs of my current PSU are as follows :
+3.3V@30A, +5V@50A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@18A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2.5A

I am running an X1900XTX, custom WC setup , P4 (was OC'd to 3.9ghz@1.5v but I get BSODs/blackouts) with corsair XMS2 1gb PC8000 (1.9v - cannot get to the recommended 2.2v) only 1 WD HDD, 1 DVD-RW and 1 floppy.

My main concern is the BSODs and blackouts which occur only under load. The PSU currently in use is a Rosewill RP550s which I thought would be enough.

PS: aside from not being able to select the 2.2v my mem is rated to run at, the voltage on my vid card keeps dropping to 1.185v from the stock 1.4v o_O ? I monitored my +12v last nite
and it would fluctuate from 11.8 to 12.31, is that normal ?

voltage fluctuation that large will kill components, and this is why you NEVER get a no-name PSU like a rosewill, no matter what they claim it will do.

your XT is likely dropping voltage because it is getting dirty power. This is also probably why your screen is going black during gaming... id say youre lucky something hasnt blown up yet..

what do your temps look like?

Thats what i figured. My temps are decent but I am a fanatic about cooling. My vid card runs 60C and Cpu will spike to 55C under full load. That may not seem like alot but my rig is watercooled with a 120mm SilenX fan sucking air out the back and that is at stock settings !
Luckily I shut her down. Now to see what PSU will fit in this case and do the job.

also, when my display for the +12v would drop to around 11.9-11.8 the screen would blackout. It took a few runs to notice that trend.

The powerstream is longer than spec, about an inch or two.

I suggest instead of buying a psu to fit the place, replace the optical drive with one of the shorter lite-on's or sony, and go with a normal sized atx. Also, try for non-modular, since modular cables take up space, and are usually very stiff.

ok I just ordered the ENERMAX Whisper II EG465P. According to its specs its 140mm in length and I can go up to 150mm. I should be ok.The rosewill is 150mm in length also but the since its modular the plugs stickout more, the Enermax should be a better fit. I wont have any pretty lights on that side of the case but maybe now I'll have the power to throw in the UV lights I wanted to.

Update: the Enermax arrived and fit well. Too bad after connecting the 3-pin Fan connector it seemed to have shorted my mobo :( the power light on the mobo comes on and it powers up but my harddrive, Dvd drive and floppy drive get no power to them :/
Should I assume using the 3 pin fan connector is not a good idea ? (I plugged into the Pwr_Fan)

I'm having a similiar problem as you with the psu and the qpack. How is that Enermax doing? I was looking at that one as well.

For lights, it may be possible to replace the fans in the psu too btw.
