I'll be taking my beloved NEC 24WMGX3 for service in a couple of days. If the problem can't be fixed, there will be no replacement possible as it's not available anymore.

I've been searching for a possible replacement for the last couple of days but things look pretty bleak.

IPS - AG coating problems + LED flickering and/or not sRGB
xVA - only found crappy models with terrible BLB
PLS - crappy Samsung quality - BLB
TN - yeah...

Is there any 24"-27" 16:10 IPS/xVA panel with no flicker problems on minimal brightness, no overly aggressive AG coating, no BLB, is sRGB (or has a good working sRGB mode) and <$600?

I was considering Dell U2412m and HP ZR2440w, but many are reporting strong AG coating issues and LED PWM flicker related problems, which worry me, because it will mostly be used for reading and I tend to keep my LCDs at minimum brightness.

AG coating on U2412M is the lightest I have seen, no problem with text when I worked on excel spreadsheet and word documents, great for browsing web, mine doesn't have any flickering issues either, brightness is set to 10~15%.

Since we're on the subject, does anyone have an idea what would be the cause of the following issue. There are sort of smudges in the center of the display, as if it is dirty, but it's on the inside. Not sure if on the panel or the glass. It is difficult to capture on camera, but maybe you'll be able to see it on some of these:

I'm trying to figure out if it's something that warranty should cover or not.

It seems I'm going to have to see it action myself, as opinions on AG vary a lot. But that is the easy part. LED flicker is the one that concerns me, as it's not something you can see (at least I can't) but I do feel it in a negative way.

I bought mine from buy.com they have 45 days full refund and no restocking fees...if you are not happy you can return it. :)
