I am thinking about speccing this GIGABYTE GA-880GM-USB3 AM3 AMD 880G for a friend who will be using it for an studio pc(recording). He said he will most likely be running 2 monitors. Will the onboard radeon hd 4250 handle that?

This is all I could get off the gigabyte website

"(Note 3) The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
(Note 4) Simultaneous output for DVI-D and HDMI is not supported."

TIA!

You're not the only one who is confused. The entire web has people asking the same question. But most of the discussion centers on the fact that you can't use the DVI and HDMI outputs at the same time, not whether the chipset can actually do analog + digital dual outputs.

I was not able to find a clear answer on the Gigabyte board, however:

This Asus 880G board claims "dual independent displays" in the specs, which tells me it's possible:

For the older Gigabyte 780G and 785G you can use one of the digital outputs and VGA ouput to do a dual screen setup.

Just can't do dual digital outputs. I pretty sure it is the same thing with the 880G. My friend has the MSI 880GX and he can't do dual digital output as well.

the 4250 allows ONE digital(HDMI OR DVI) and ONE analog(VGA)

the DVI doesn't have pinouts for analog output

so you have to run one monitor on DVI/HDMI, the other on VGA

thats fine because he has a vga lcd he can use and a dvi ready monitor.

thnx guys.
