Ok, I didn't really understand how the rails were divided. It appears all of the Molex and SATA connectors are on one rail. And that two rails are dedicated to one 6-pin PCI-e connector each.

So, with my system, using a DFI nForce4 Ultra MB and XFX 6800GT video card, is not using two rails and sharing an MB Molex and video card Molex with 6 disc drives, 2 DVDs, a floppy, and two case fans. That's enough of a load that the MB driven fans (cpu, northbridge, one case) don't spin if the discs are connected and booting itself is problematic.

What is the best way to rectify the problem? Get a different PSU? Build an adapter cable? It would have to borrow 5v from an existing Molex and use the 12v from a 6-pin connector. Would the new cable need 5v? Does the MB, video card, disc drives, etc take 5v from the Molex?

Thanks for your help...I running with one disk powered up now.

I just installed the 700w version into this system yesterday. I don't understand your question.

The lines are pretty well labelled really. PCIe1, PCIe2, SATA1-6, the 4/8 pin mobo, etc. In my system, I have 3 drives on one line, 1 on the other (leaving 2 SATA lines open), 2 DVD drives, 1 floppy, and 2 120 mm case fans. The PCIe1 line is going to the video card in my sig, the 8 pin to the mobo.

Now that I think about it, I forgot to plug in the other molex that leads into the mobo.

What's that one for anyway? (Time to get out the manual....)

Anyway, No problems here so far.

Edit: Ok, went to see what the "JPWR1" on the mobo was for, since I didn't plug a molex into it. It's supposed to be power to the video card. Since there's already a 6 pin going to the card, this one must be redundant I guess?

I take it your 6800GT has a 4-pin Molex input? If so, you should have mentioned it. If not the question is useless :)

I had to build an adapter frpm 6-pin PCIe to 8-pin EPS12V, too, so I feel your pain.

The rail split doesn't seem to pose a technical problem for me, but the connectors on the rails leave a little to be desired.

Otherwise I have nothing by highest praise for this PSU.
