Hey guys, i just finished my new system. The main reason i chose what i did was because i knew i could overclock it. The problem is, my last endouvor into o/c involved a #2 pencil on my thunderbird 800!..ahh memories... anyway, ive been reading everything i can find and im ready to start. The thing is, i really cant afford to screw this system up. If someone has a VERY similar setup to mine, or just knows there shit and wouldnt mind helping me out via AIM, (on 2nd computer) i would gladly paypal ya 10$ for your time.

My setup.
Athlon 3700+ SD
DFI NF4-ULtra D
Mushkin 3200 redline. (want to get that to 1.5.2.2.6 @ 3.5v w/ 250!)

Anyway yea, just lemme know, ill be around all night.

If you cant afford to screw the system up then why are you overclocking?
 
Not trying to be an ass. However, its the risk we all take once we start asking for more power. Read the link (cf)Eclipse posted. It's very good starting point to oc'ing your athlon. As long as you go slow you really shouldnt do any damage.

Just be sensible about what you are doing.
 
like i said, i got all the guides in the world, i just wanted to touche basis with someone with the same board, and a VERY similar cpu.

Umm, why not just pay someone to do it for you then? Really it is pretty easy, you just DO IT, kind of like sex and Nike. But if you want someone to hold your hand for $10, I guess it's your call. The board you have is good, the chip is good, the ram is good, just go for it and when you have a problem, post it here. If you really really run into issues, I'd try DFI street. Most anyone here that has posted already shares similar stuff, I have a NF4-UT, venice, and winbond memory. Good luck with the redline, from what I've seen it costs a pretty penny and should do better than what you are expecting (I hope). At least I would think it should do better than my refurbed twinmos.

If you broke out the good old graphite for the tbird, you should know that you can't do any damage to your stuff by overclocking it, it won't combust or catch on fire, now overvolting is another story (keep that mushkin cool now), but setting your chip to 5ghz will do nothing to the CPU/board, maybe hurt your neck a little bending over to get the cmos jumper...
