Hello guys, I'm not very good with audio stuff, and I need some help.

I often have problems with the sound on my computer, where I turn everything up full blast, and it shows the sound playing through the device at full bars (green bars, such as in the sound mixer) but the sound is actually quite poor. This tends to happen with most devices, even though at one point my sound was much higher.

I recently got some Sennheiser PC 350s for Christmas, and I'm having the same problem. So, I tried connecting some PC speakers with both an AUX jack and HEADPHONE jack in them. I plugged the Sennheisers into the headphone jack, and plugged the speakers into my computer, turned up the volume on the speakers, and it solves my problem.

However, this seems overly complicated, and doesn't really fix my problem, because those aren't the speakers I want to have connected to my computer. (I have a better speaker system that has a subwoofer).

Is there a fix for this? What am I doing wrong?

Also, I have a soundcard with an S/PDIF input, in the back of my computer, and RealTEK Digital Output. I am not currently using digital output, but I think I would like to. Is there a way I can connect my Sennheisers through optical S/PDIF? An adapter that would turn the male 3.5mm jack from my headset into a mini S/PDIF male to fit into my computer?

Please assist me! If I've left out any important information please let me know.
