I was using two small 80gig drives in raid 0 and now im using only 1 300gig drive. Right now im in the middle of re-installing my x-fi drivers. However around 90% it hangs and i get a bsod. I even tried the device manager to load some of them and i get a bsod as well. Im guessing it has something to do with a win32.sys file not being updated but im not sure? How do i stop bsods from rebooting windows again so i can look it up on google? i havent done this in about 10 months lol.

uggh its the dreaded ha20x2k.sys sound card driver. It owns many people at 81% during driver install. Seems to be a some kinda firmware thing or whatever. Creative says that bios updates on nf4 boards will work. However mine is already updated (lastest bios 20) and still messes me up. I wonder why it was working fine for all these months and now that i swapped drives its going to hell in a handbasket. Anyone know if im missing something from either creative or abit? the x-fi seems to be exhibiting strange behavior like when i had the prior bios (19) although it wasnt severe enough so i could update to bios 20 where everything was fixed.

QFT.
That and then disabling "remote support invitations" are the first 2 things I do after an install of XP...

Terra - BTW: OP is that board a nForce4 board?

Remve the "remote invitations"?
Same place, just under the tab "remote" ;)

The reason why I asked is because it's a know fact that some nForce 4 mobo's have problems with the X-Fi.
Some manufactors have released a BIOS-update that solves the issue, some havn't...
People where was "FUD" like about Creative before it got know that it was not Creative's problem but a bug in some nForce4 boards.
Try and see if you are using the lastest BIOS version...

the most recent bios from abit for the an8 series is bios 20, which i have. Still no go. Wierd thing is that this never happend to me and until this reinstall. previously i've been using this for x-fi for like 4 months no probs then not this happens.

well i got it to work again.Basically i reseated the card like times in different slots. Installed and reinstalled like 5 times and rebooted a million. That creative shit is buggy as hell but at least it works now, just in time for me to swap mobos and another reformat.

Don't blame Creative for a bug on the nForce4 mobo...
This is not a national secret that nForce boards have this problem.
