Hello,
I recently got the gskill 4gb ddr2-1000 ram but it shows up in cpu-z as ddr2-400 ram.
but when it is booting up in the post screen it shows up as ddr2-800 ram.

what is going on?
why can't i get the ddr2-1000 that i got?
how can i make it ddr2-1000 and does it make a difference?

please help.

thanks in advance.

What motherboard/CPU are you using? Does the motherboard support over 800 memory? Sometimes there is an "Auto" setting in the BIOS that needs to be set to the actual speed of the RAM. My Foxconn had this issue with the BIOS. It was seeing it as 533 when it should have been 800 so I had to take off the AUTO setting. Just a suggestion, try it post the results.

thank you for the reply.
i hate to play around with the settings and take off auto like you said.
i had to change the volts to 2.0 too.

o well i will just keep it at auto which puts me at ddr2-800 which is enough i think.

thanks for the help.
