I have a 9200 ATI Radeon 128mb , At first when I got it I would be able to play some old games like Ghost Recon and half life but then when I got Halo and MOHAA all these new games I would get VPU errors and my computer will freeze this would happen when I play the games and also just leave my computer on with out doing anything . And then I found out about this Driver Cleaner and installed the newest drivers. I would play halo and I won't get any errors but it would Lag when I shoot the same goes for these other games but not Ghost Recon it works just fine. I changed the Video Options on all of them but nothing still lag . Could this be because my Card sucks and need a new one ? because I have gone to Customer support and they were no help to me so what should I do buy a new card or could this be fixed ?

My Computer has these in it:
(I know it's Crapy but I am cheap lol ...... )

1.83 GHZ AMD Althlon XP

512 MB DDR

MOBO: KX400-8XV

In halo if you press f12 you'll get an FPS display. If you've got specular, particle and other effects enabled, the scene gets really complicated when you shoot. Thats what causes it to lag as you'll see your FPS drop really low when you fire a weapon or look at different things that are more complicated and have more specular hilights. The 9200se is basically the same as a Geforce MX4.

It does suck. Its memory interface is only 64bit which is severely limited. Its core is REALLY outdated as well. The 128MB of ram on it are totally bottlenecked. I've had one and its only good for its 2D image quality. Halo is a hard game to run even on the best system because its not optimized for higher resolutions and has unnecessarily complicated effects. In short, get a better card. Whats your budget???

um... i don't think ur card can handle the game maybe? how long have u bought that 9200 se...?

u wouldnt get a vpu error if ur card cant hadle it, u got a defective card or a msi card (ie. the cheapest brand possible

Well the 9200SE is no speed demon, its a 9200 Stripped Edition of course.

What it shouldn't do is freeze. That likely is a overheating problem. If your case runs kinda warm it'll make it freeze because all 9200SE's are passively cooled AFAIK.

Or Sucky Edition. Get a better card if you can afford to. The SE's ARENT for gaming. They've got the memory bandwidth of a GF 4 MX and bog down on even easy to render games like Comanche 4.
