Ive decided there just simply isnt a monitor that I like enough for gaming and for daily use, so Im going to get two separate monitors.

A VG248QE is on the way for gaming, which I would like to have at eye level, against the wall / at the back of my desk.

I want to get either an IPS or VA panel monitor, 24-27in for general use. Im trying to think of a way I can mount it above the game monitor, but sticking closer to me, so I can lower it in front of the game monitor when web browsing, or even turn it to portrait over the game monitor. But then easily be able to position it out of the way when I want to play a game, but still be seen for monitoring.

Anyone seen any similar setups, or know of any dual monitor stands that position one closer then the other? Or will a wall mount be needed? My drywall is cheap/thin, and I move stuff around a lot, so Id rather not have a wall mount.
 
Dual set-ups are the best. I have a shitty VESA arm for my 2720MDP is mounted to my desk and use

Here's a pick of my set-up, swap the VP2770 for an NEC P242W. Whichever monitor I'm testing goes on the left.

I shift my kb/m infront of whichever display I'm using for gaming. Usually the displays aren't angled inward as much.

Barely-adjustable vesa arms like the one I have are really annoying, if you don't want to spend alot on an easily adjustable arm like this one, get a stand. I only bought the arm so I could place my receiver under it but it ended up getting in the way.

My desk is a 2' x 4' rectangle, and Im trying to be dead center of either monitor, depending on which Im using.

If I went side by side, something like this may work if I can move the left far enough to the side to center the right (and the other way around). But Id still like to be able to see the other monitor, at least when gaming.

You will want to angle the displays inward vs. having them flat and side by side, unless you plan on sitting like 4ft away.
