Ok, I have had this computer for about a Year or so. Its a 1.6 Ghz P4. One night it was all fine, i shut it off Completly. then BAM the next morning i go to start it up, and it doesnt work. IT beep's twice. BUt nothing appears on the screen. (its black) but Normaly the screen is IDLE at Orange and when it is recieving a signal is Green, well it is green. I tried another screen, same thing. So its sending a signal. but yeah it doesnt work. oh also the Vid card is a Ge-force 2 MX

ok, without knowing what motherboard it's hard to judge the bios error code for no post. But here's a couple of "typical" ways to diagnose this. First, make sure the video card sits tight. Could be just you bumped the monitor cable and the card lost some contact. If that doesn't work, try booting without video card, without memory and without CPU (one after the other) and check if the beep signal changes. If you remove the video card and get the same signal, most likely your card is bad. Same procedure for the other essential items.

I alrdy checked if it is all the way in (many times lol), It is. also i took all the hard drive,cd rom, ram, etc. and when i mean beeping i mean normal beeping (starting up). i tried putting 1 thing back in at a time. Every thing seems in harmony with each other. but still nothing on screen also. The mobo is a P4S5A .... Link here http://www.ecsusa.com/products/p4s5a.html

Hmmm, the K7S5A's brother. I don't mean to troll, just voicing my opinion. I'll chekc the site out

That's not helping me , lol =/. The reason i want to fix this, is b/c My parent's bitch at me for being on teh comp and they cant "check their email"... Like they actually have important stuff... *humph*

Maybe your GFX is shot.

When you say 2 beeps, do you mean the one that occurs before before and after the POST? (one each)

I had a friend with a very similar P4 problem a while ago. The problem ended up being the PS, and we found that out after replacing everything else but that.

usually if no video gets ont he screen and all the fans are spinning etc

that means a memory problem.

I've seen the K7S5A (I assume that the P4S5A has a similar BIOS, other than the P4 stuff) POST and it beeps once before the POST and once after the POST. I'm assuming that's what he means by the two beeps.

Yeah that is what i mean. I've heard that sweet sound for so long, i can Know what it is as soon as it occurs. GFX shot? but why would the moniter be saying its recieving a signal?

maybe if i took pix of my GFX card u can see if its hooked wrong or something?

EDIT- I have a extra PSU If that is what u mean by PS

Yeah, that is what he means by PS.

It could also be the mobo. ECS mobos suck IMO. My friend had a K7S5A (the one mentioned above). The had bought the computer from some place. Detected the CPU wrong. Even with FSB @ 133. They were interested in upgrading. The first thing I told them that had to go was the motherboard.

I replaced their mobo with a Biostar M7NCD. Found out that it was a 1700+. Thing has been running like a gem ;) .

I think we've narrowed it down to either your GFX Card or your PSU. HAve you tried the other PSU yet? If it still doesn't work than it is your GFX Card.

I recommend changing the PSU
I remember that happened to me ages ago with my p3.
But its cheaper to just make sure if its the PSU first by swappiing in an extra one,but prob can get one cheap quite easily =)

Ok, ill go do that right now and ill post if its works or not, but thanks in advance, also even it doesnt work thx for trying.

EDIT- =/ guess what happend? Well i went to go install PSU and i relized... The psu is a 250 watt... and it doesnt even have the right connection to connect to meh mobo... =/
If you know of some one, or you have a extra psu for cheap. let me know
