help with low end pci-e card

Ok so here is my delema.. I want one computer to run everything...
that everything is as follows

1. WHS
2. Homeseer
3. CCTV card (phillips chipset)

now i had vail, homeseer running great... no 64 bit drivers for the cctv card...

went back to whs and there are drivers... however here is my delema..

my current computer specs are...
foxcon mobo with onboard 915 (think that is it) chipset video
xeon x3220 2.4ghz quad core xeon
4gb 6400 ram
160gb, 500gb, 1tb, 1.5tb sata drives

now when i install whs direct 3d is not enabled.. that is needed for the camera card....
so i realize my chipset doesnt support server 2003... ok fine...
i installed a ati 2400hd pci express card for video but couldnt get direct 3d to work with it...

so my delema... i need a low end video card that doesnt hog power....
now i noticed newegg has a xfx radeon 4350 for $35 plus shipping and tax....

think this card will support it? or go for the geforce 9500 gt?

i installed whs on a poweredge 840 which has a rac card that has a ati mobility radeon 7300 and direct 3d is active....


any help greatly apprecaited....

yeah the 2400hd didnt... i think we have a 3400hd floating around.. gonna try and find it.. if i cant.. gonna order up the 4350...

well the 3400 hd didnt do it either.. tired of this...

so ended up going and buying a xfx geforce 9500 gt 512mb.. more than what i need but still that should do it....

Doubt the problem is the graphics card. You disabled the onboard video before installing the new cards right?

cant... foxconn el cheapo mobo.. minimal to do in the bios..

however i do feel it has to do with the video as my original problem is directx fails..

i did go into troubleshooting and slide the hardware acceleration to full...

but the ati card is at standard vga adapter in device manager. Cant run the catalyst stuff as it is unsupported in 2k3 (whs)...

the onboard is a 915 chipset to which it too is not supported in 2k3 os....
ill give the xfx card a shot.. if it dont work the wifes kitchen computer will get an upgrade

well due to the cheap crap motherboard.... even the geforce card isnt playing nice..

im going to give one more shot...
i have a dell optiplex 745 tower... e6300/4gb ram... installing whs as i left for work.. if i get home and directx works... great that will be my new server.. hoping my xeon quad core will work in it...

if not...
windows 7 it is and screw whs....

Can you disable the onboard graphics adapter via a jumper on the motherboard or device manager? Getting directX to work on those older OS's is usually a matter of getting the OS to recognize the primary graphics adapter is capable of it, so if you can get the proper drivers installed and the right graphics adapter recognized, it should work.


Edit: Also, hit up this link to make sure you have directX installed

i searched.. no jumper on mobo to disable video that i could see.. bios doesnt have the option either..

i got fed up and used a dell optiplex 745... all installed and worked great... everything is working fine.... even my camera as i have only installed one so far...
but now im getting a catastrophic error... if using windows vista or windows 7 run as an administrator...

so that is a differernt issue.. webcam 7 is giving that.. i will use webcamxp and give that a whirl.... as one guy has it working...

want to see how frustratting this is.... just read here..

sorry for the really late reply.. i got fed up with the $46 mobo.. and just now use my tower dell 745... upgraded it to a xeon quad core 3220... runs everything now no issues...
