Help with Logitech MX3000

I am having trouble using my Logitech MX3000 set (mouse and keyboard) for gaming. In games, the game will not detect my middle mouse button (the scroll wheel) being pressed, nor will it detect any of the additional buttons on the mouse. When I am in normal Windows and just doing web browsing, these features work, but not in game. I have tried different software settings and have the latest versions of the setPoint drivers. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions on how to get these buttons working in game, please let me know...

Set the button to a certain keystroke in your logitech software, then bind that keystroke in game to what you want the button to be used for.

Is there any way, such as a 3rd party piece of software, that will allow me to set the specific button to just that keystroke for the game but have it revert to its original function when I'm in Windows?
