I am trying to install a pci/ide raid controller card in a p4 1.5ghz 512mb ram system, it has a hdd with win2k on it and a 52x cdrom drive. Whenever the raid card is in a pci slot, the computer wont post. But with the card out I can get it to post fine.
I tried disabling the on board ide controller, no sucess
Tried booting with the hdd/cdrom pluged into the raid card, no sucess
give me some troubleshooting tips on this please ^_^

If the computer won't POST with the card in, check to see if you need to install the BIOS of the card on top of your BIOS first.

Although, I suspect that the card is defective and you should just exchange it.

What kind of card is it?

honestly im not sure what brand it is, i was doing it for somebody at work
how do i install a bios on the card? it came with no disks, just a windows driver cd
thank you

Truthfully, I don't know how to install the BIOS, as I've always purchased cards with the BIOS on the card. You may have to take a better look at the card and find out who made it, and then check their web page for instructions.

Again, I'm leaning towards a dead card. I don't think the PC wouldn't POST based on you not installing the BIOS.
