I'm a noob with this stuff so please be gentle, lol.

Anyway, ran the benchmark test and this curve doesn't look right but I'm not sure what it's telling me. It's a 3TB drive that is about 80% full of vid files. What prompted me to investigate is that copying files to it takes FOREVER...like less than 1 Mb/s. This PC has a number of other drives that work just fine including an identical one. This HDD does not have the OS on it, it is simply data storage. I ran the error scan and it came up all green. This drive used to work fine but I'm wondering if its failing or if there is something I can do to get it back. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Have you defragged the drive or ran ran the error check with HDTune? Without knowing those it's hard to say. Storage drive, OS drive, or SSD, doesn't matter. When you start getting past 50% full performance ALWAYS starts to take a hit and it just continues to get worse. I don't think it should be that bad. That's almost 90's error bad, but I wouldn't be surprised if max usual performance dipped 50% around where you're at.
 
yeah, i've done both...its defragged and HDTune error scan shows all green on the entire drive...but now that i look at it its more like 90% full...
 
if its defraged like you said then the only open space on the drive left is the slowest 10%.....makes perfect sense....try copying a file from it that's stored on the fastest part of the drive ( it probably would copy pretty fast) but 1MB a sec is pretty dam slow....i have a 2tb seagate filled to about 95% hooked up via usb3 and i still get over 150MB's second copying movies to it....when it was empty i would get over 200MB's a second

yeah, that's what I was thinking...it's still too slow despite it being almost full. The drives are all SATA 3, 7200 RPM, the board is SATA 3, same with the cables, I'm set to AHCI in BIOS, etc....and all my other drives are fine with transfer speeds being pretty high. No matter where I get the file from on that drive, it's still slow as hell. Actually...when I copy a file to it, it starts out around where yours is and then it just hits a wall about 25% into the transfer and crawls...it says 45 minutes to copy 1GB to it...crazy. I understand the speeds go slower as it nears the full mark, but THAT slow?
 
What I'm curious about is the graph...whenever a benchmark is done using HDTune, a graph is typically higher at the beginning than tapers off towards the slower part of a drive. But the graph for this drive is relatively even across the board. (I know it spikes up and down, but I mean "even" as in, it actually starts down near the zero mark)
