help with first build

I got all the parts and just finished putting everything together. I'll be getting win 7 64 bit home premium later today. I just need help with how to set everything up. Like drivers, setting up the BIOS, etc. Basically just what's the next step after putting it together physically?

This is my first ever build, so I'm kind of a complete beginner on the subject. I know to make my optical drive the first boot drive when installing win 7, but that's about it.

Also wondering, do I need to buy thermal paste if I use the stock cooler and have no plan to oc? I have an i3 3220.

Gaming mostly, bit of web browsing, and netflix on a second monitor

Eventually want to get a 5.25" card reader, and some 12" cathodes, but they're not necessities.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Everything's brand new, so not reusing anything

6) Will you be overclocking?
No, atleast not for a while.

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
Still need to buy a monitor, but for now I'm using a 22" 1680x1050, want to add a 23" 1980x1200 and run dual monitors

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Already built/bought

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Have legit 64bit win 7 home premium.

You don't really have to worry about much more to start. The Windows installation should take care of most or all of it. The BIOS will start with the standard settings. Later on when you get everything setup you can go back through and check out the BIOS settings and install any missing drivers or update them. Then you can worry about overclocking if that's of any interest.

And I watched newegg's part 3 of how to build a computer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxaVBsXEiok&feature=plcp) so I think I got it as far as that goes.
So I guess my only question would be if I need to buy thermal compound or not?

Edit: actually, seems like newer intel processors come with it already on the heatsink? I think I'm good then. thanks all
