How in the world do I create a drive share on my local network that I can connect to without being prompted for a username/password?

I have an XP machine that I want to share a drive, I make a new share and give 'everyone' read access.

When i attempt to connect to it, I get prompted. Even if I put in a user account on that machine, it never takes it.

This happens with all my machines when trying to connect to them from any other machine and the OS doesn't seem to matter. I have machines running XP, Vista, and 7.

Make the same user account on every machine with the same password and log in as that user

Can't I just log in as a user on the remote machine? I swear I can do that sometimes by loggin in using
computer Name\user name

and there is no way to just make a share without having to make accounts on every machine?

you can put a startup script on all machines to map the share with credentials (then only need one login account)
otherwise if you have a domain controller, that'd be easier
