Help with Direct X

So here is my problem, source based games(hl2, css, mods) just stopped working. They worked before.

Whenever they try and start, it gives me an error saying I need Direct X 7. Someone on IRC told me to go into something called dxdiag. So I did, and he asked dx version and drivers.

I have DX 9.0c and 77.72 drivers from nvidia.com

He said to run some tests, so I did. I tested some thing called DirectDraw and Direct3D, here are my results.

No problems found.
DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D 8 test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D 9 test results: All tests were successful.

He then asked to reinstall DX. How do I do that? Add/Remove programs then just reinstall?

Could maybe rolling back a version(DX 9.0b) help?

Help would be appreciated, thank you.

CoD:UO and GTA:SA run fine.

Install forceware 77.76, something weird in 77.72 causes source engine games not to work. (I had the same problem, would play the movie after that immediately give error box.

Thank you for your fast reply. I am downloading the 77.76 drivers from nvidia's site right now.

Edit: it works, thank you for your help.
