Help with current system build.

What file system were they using? If they were setup as Dynamic volumes, I think you're in trouble. Load XP and dual boot. Or use a Live CD to transfer your data off.

I hope for your sake you didn't listen to the last guy - Installing XP for a dual boot setup is totally unnecessary and will lead to the same problem in XP as both OSes are probably detecting your drives as foreign disks. follow these directions

Before you start disable UAC in Vista it freaking annoying- if you don't know how google it!

1. Click on Start
2. Right click on Computer
3. Select Manage
4. Computer Management screen should come up, click on disk management under storage

At this point you should be able to see all your drives on that list

5. Right click on the drive you want to add
6. Click on import foreign disks
7. Follow the on screen instructions - it will ask what drive letter you want for it, the name of the volume, and etc.

Hopefully once you add your drive you'll have full access, if you don't you'll probably need to change ownership of the drive to have full effective permissions to access the drive.

Let us know how it goes:D

"the last guy" ? ROFL... couldn't even look at my name? I also mentioned a Live CD, btw. I figured if they worked in XP before, why wouldn't they work anymore? Ahh well, I guess I've been corrected.

A quicker way of getting to the disk manager is hold down the windows key and hit R, then type in "diskmgmt.msc" without quotes. ;) There, something useful from me, lol.
