Hey there!

I'm currently in a process of making a new PC, but I got stuck at cooling. I dont have any experiance in this area so please help me :D

Here are the components of the computer:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GmTczy

CPU: Intel i7-4790k
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x 8GB)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB
Power Supply: Corsair RM 750W
Case: Zalman Z11 Plus HF1

The most important question is, how much overclocking do you plan on doing? Are you looking for an air/AIO, or custom watercooling? Budget?

I am a noob myself but I ended up with the Phanteks ph-tc14pe and it is pretty amazing.

I went from hitting up to 100 degrees max on stock cooler to a solid 60 degrees while running Prime95.

I have the same CPU and GPU as you not that it would make a huge difference but it is IMO one of the best air coolers for the money and will outperform some of the lower end water coolers.

There are alot of options though and the 2 bad things about the Phanteks is that it was a pain to install and also you need some lo profile ram.

I have regular sized ram and there is about a 1/2 inch gap on one of the fans. Not a big deal to me but to someone with OCD that would be unacceptable and you would need lo pro ram.

OCing is still a question, if it requires cooling system thats too expensive then I might not OC, thats why I asked here before buying.

But let's say I will OC, and I want the best, or 2nd best cooling system there is, just interested in the price, so I can decide.

And if you have any tips for OC, I'm glad to hear it :D

The best would be a custom subambient solution that can easily hit $1k or more. Second best would be a custom watercooling solution that can be $500+.

You need to be more specific. Something that is good enough for limited overclocking is most likely what you're looking for. The best price/performance cooler would be the Hyper 212 Evo. It will allow you to hit ~4.2-4.4 ghz at a cost of $20-35. Best air cooler that I know of would be the NH-D15, but not sure if it fits with that RAM. It comes in at a cost of ~$100. It will allow you to hit 4.6+ ghz. AIOs give you the same overclocking capabilities as air at a higher cost.

Realistically, you could put together a custom loop for < $250 (like I did), if you get used parts (fs/t forum is where I got mine) and new parts on discount...but pickings are slim, so expect $300+ if you plan to go that route (especially if you plan to have multiple large radiators, a reservoir [which you'll probably want], and if you'll be cooling multiple GPUs).

A 280mm acool NexXxOs XT45 with two 120mm fans and a XSPC Raystorm keeps my A10-6800k under +35C at 2.98V. For reference, an H80i could only manage +50C, iirc.

Some of the simple air coolers are rather remarkable and very affordable.
The Cooler Master Evo 212 is an oldie but goodie, and is still very popular.
A newer company called Raijintek developed the Themis and even newer Themis Evo.

They have gotten rave reviews and compete with more expensive AIO solutions.
