im looking to go SLI, so I need a new PSU. ive been looking at three silverstone PSUs, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817163109, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817163112, and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817163111. they are all SLI certified. one of the two 560 watts has dual 12v rails with 18A on each. the other 560 watts has one single 12v rail, but with 38A. the 600 watt has quad 12v rails, totaling 55A (!) on the 12v rails. this is a little out of my league here, and since they are all within about $15 of eachother, i was wondering if you guys could help me out. thanks in advance

the 600W is modular if you're looking for that. out of hte 560's i'd get the single rail version.

yeah, i knew that it was, it would be pretty handy. is there a reason why youd choose the single rail over the dual rail? because it has 38A instead of 36A?

My understanding is that the Z in the name indicates it is an Etasis built unit, which means you'll be getting a fantastic psu for the money. The beefy single rail might also be useful with the upcoming transition to power-hungry 1st generation dx10 cards.

how deep is it? becuase it might be a concern with me. ive got the antec p180b, so there is a big fan at the botom of the chasis blowing on the psu. i could take it out though, its not that big of a deal

ST56ZF. Single rail eliminates any rail loading issues. Rated at 50C I believe.

Etasis built. the only Etasis models are ST56ZF, ST75ZF, and ST85ZF.

The ST60F isn't hard to set up correctly (it includes a diagram of how to do an SLI or CrossFire setup) and it is the most powerful of the three. Check out this review. Also, the ST60F is capable of moving amps around a bit between the rails if necessary. Enhance PSU's are pretty badass themselves.

im very torn. since they are both within 3 dollars of eachother, i dont know what to do. can anyone lend any more help?

You want a Etasis built PSU over an Enhance built one. ;)

Get the 600W. If not, go for the single rail 560W

yeah, ive now narrowed it down between the 600 W modular (made by enhance) or the 560 W model (made by estasis)

you think its worth getting the 560 W one over the 600 one? why

The ST60F is rated at 50C, too.

Also, I'm starting to wonder if the ST60f is really built buy Enhance. According to the Silverstone website, it is based on the ST65ZF which from what I can tell is built by Etasis. I've managed to confuse myself....

i think they're both Enhance units. kind hard to figure which one belongs to who. but either what they're both good oems.

the 65ZF is built by enhance. if you read my post I said that the only Etasis built PSU's from silverstone are the ST56ZF, ST75ZF, and the ST85ZF. ZF simply means 80mm. element 80+ certs. F means enhance or 120mm either way. ST56ZF>ST60F.

I bought the ST60F a few weeks ago everything is perfectly stable, plus it's quiet.

I'd buy it again too :)

i say... go here and get a strider for super modular power! hehe. i bought a seasonic from the dood... with a price like that... too good of a deal to pass up. :D http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=45&threadid=1944178
it's $120 for a modular 600watt psu. i was so tempted to get it, but that seasonic was calling my name. hmm... looks a bit... long though. ;p so i'm glad i didnt get it! :D http://jonnyguru.com/PSU/ST60F/ but i think if you're contemplating buying those i say do it. just... just do it

im definitely confused. it seems like its split down the middle here, half say go for the 600W and half say go for the 560W

If you want modular, get the enhance-built 600w. If you want the better psu then get the etasis built 560w. It can't be simplified much further than that.

I agree 100%! ;)

There are no bad decisions here, they are both damn fine PSU's!

so what did you decide. either way, great psu's. i have the ST60F myself. you'll be happy with silverstone.

i ended up getting the st56zf unit. smaller size and great deal ($107 from case-mod) and the supposed better quality tempted me to get it :D
