I was really down to buying the aspire xpac, anyone else have links and recommendations for others?
 
Micro fly is better. You CANNOT use the stock PSU on the Q-Pack, it is just too terrible. The Micro Fly is basically a smoothed out Q-Pack that is 1.5" longer. My opty 146 runs at 2.8 (from 2.0 stock) and never goes above 46 degrees, even with torture testing. The extra 1.5" does a ton of good to the design also; you can use almost any PSU and almost any CD drive, no worries about getting a Lite-On or another short drive. The stock PSU is pretty good on the MF too, if you choose to buy the model with a PSU. It powers my system great and stable, even with overclocks. Hopefully it's 400 Watts will power my SLI upgrade too :D

If you want to spend a bit more, get the SG-01E. IMO, it is the best built SFF case (well, besides the QMicra, but it is absurdly expensive and looks wierd).
 
Ok thanks, im basically going to be powering a weak system, a venice 3500+ with a gig of ram and a geforce 6150 skt 939 foxconn board, vid card is gonna be only a x600 that im getting from my brother out of his e510 dell. one sata hd and a dvd burner.
 
I wouldnt mind getting the microfly but i dont really like tigerdirect and it seems expensive at 90 dollars for the psu it has.

That is a Micro Fly clone... Just get the real thing. Newegg refuses to sell Ultra because they claim it will not be in the best intrests of their sources...

That rating means nothing because the PSU is probably total crap. But how do you know if its total crap? People joke Aspire psus and i have been using their 50 dollar 520 watt for over 2 years. on my SLI pc with 3 hard drives ( in sig) and the voltages are all great.
 
There are always exceptions. I would never trust a potentially bad PSU, ESPECIALLY AN ASPIRE! They are arguably the worst PSUs on the market. I am amazed your system had not died yet.

Your Aspire PSU is abnormal then, the "upgraded" one that came with my Qpack couldn't consistantly power my P-M 780 with one HD and without the 6800 Ultra installed. I honestly dont understand why people willingly cheap out on what can be the most critical and potentially damaging part of their system.
 
Why is Ultra on that list? I have an X2 and Xfinity and both are great. I wouldn't call them the best but they are certainly not worthy of the worst list. My Seasonic has blown up twice!

...because probably 100 hundred people have had experience with it and agreed, plus it only tested to around 250w. Your PSU may be okay, but the one they sell with the case is crap.

Check out the JPAC. Same as the MicroFly but in all black.

There is a myth that the quality of the PSU can be told by the weight, but there is some truth to that. As sparse looking as the OCZ GameXstream interior looks, the "550w" PSU that comes with the JPAC weighs about 1/3 of that! I wouldn't trust it to power my floppy.

Ultra, Thermaltake and Aspire generally fall under substandard. Ultra started out well, then switched to cheap components. I haven't heard many complaints lately so they have probably improved.
 
From what I understand, Ultra had a bad batch at one point and thus people got mad. Their X2 and X-finity seem fine :) Their forums always make it seem like everyone is having a problem though.
 
Actually my brother just got a Ultra X2 which was DOA :p


But if they ever release SFF cables sets ill pick up one in a heartbeat.

I know 5 of my friends with my exact aspire psu and they all have different pc components and it runs everyone of their computers perfectly fine, ranging from a socket a 2600+ to a 3800+
