Help with ATI TV out

I can't get TV out working the way I want it on my brother's 9700 Pro. His primary display is a 17" CRT and I hooked up a 27" analog TV to the video out. He's running Catalyst 5.7 w/ CCC and XP Pro SP2.

With my 6800GT I can just right click on a file and select play on my TV. It then comes up in WMP on my monitor and full screen on my TV. There's got to be a way to make it play videos fullscreen on the TV from his, but I can't figure it out.
 
In the catalyst control center there should be an an option under displays. I don't have them so I can't tell you specifically. The option should be something about playing "overlay content" in TV.
 
its called theater mode I beleive

its a pain to find in the control panel, its presented much better in the catalyst control center
 
I actually went through a ati manual. ATI for tv to work u have to shutoff pc then plug tv in. For some reason only will work from startup but will not run both crt and tv at same time.

Thats entirly false, TV detection takes place upon opening the control panel. I can verify this as ive personally done it many a times. You can output to both the CRT and TV at the same time if your videocard is designed to support two monitors. Once again I can verify by experiance
 
That is true in NVIDIA cards, but ATI cards requires you to reboot PC in order to operate cerrectly with a TV set.

well my 8500, 9700pro, 9800 pro, x800xt, x850xt may disagree

as will my 32" JVC CRT
