Hey,

Upon switching my parts into a new case, my southbridge fan has been very annoying. It's super loud and whiny spinning at 7000rpm. So I ordered a passive heatsink, and now it's here. I was trying to take the fan off earlier, but I coulnd't figure out how. It's quited down a bit, but I still wish to replace it in case it starts back up.

(Before I even made the switch, it would buzz upon startup each time)

So, is there any way to remove the fan?

Thanks alot!

Lol,

Nail clippers! Clip away at the plastic tabs of the fan. Then twist the cooler and pull it off, gently.

Be warned, this means you viod your warranty (you just killed your tabs) or you could ask for a new chipset fan from asus (either way is fine :p).

Good luck.
