Someone gave me an iMac and I'd like to wipe the drive clean. Not really familiar with OS X, I have no idea how to do this. I don't have an OS disc either. Any suggestions?

I think it's currently running 10.5 and is an iMac G5.

Your gonna need an OSX Leopard disk if you need to wipe the HD.

But if you just create a new user, and the switch to it, and then delete the "old" user account, you can have an almost new installation without the need to reinstall.

Now if there is some problem with the installation, then you will need the disk. OSX Leopard (10.5) is the newest mac os you can install on a PPC mac.

Good luck....

Thanks for the info. I figured it being PowerPC it wouldn't support anything past Leopard.
