Hey guys and ladies, I need some assistance. I just recieved my NF-M2 & X2 3600 today. Everything booted fine and is working great-except the temps being reported are WAY off. Currently per Everast it's idling at 58 C. This is a known BIOS issue, I've been looking for most of the night for some kind of fix. My questions are:

Has anyone found a fix or know of one?

How can I monitor the temps until the BIOS issue is fixed?

I'm looking to overclock so the temps are a bit important.

afaik Everest polls directly rather than via BIOS - AMD changed a few things for Brisbane & various monitoring software needs updated.
I know that abit have fixed Brisbane support for some mobos but I can't remember if the nView is 1. Have you updated to the latest BIOS?

Yeah, I updated it via FlashMenu-which is the app abit uses. That was my first thought-but I browsed their forums and from what I read there the Brisbane temp issue still isn't fixed (which is evident with my machine). Unless I can find something soon I'm going to have to box it back up.

Initiated RMA this morning for refund. Going to grab a Tforce 550 and a larger case.

Why?
You know that it's an erroneous reading, Everest will still read it wrong on another mobo until it's revised & other mobos may /may not have fixes at the moment as well.
abit will fix the reading in a BIOS update as they already have on other.

As far as I read the Tforce works fine with Brisbane. It's not just Everest either. The abit temp stuff is off too. It also won't post when I move the ext clock from 200 to 210, which isn't that big of a jump. I've also read that this particular model is already being replaced, and that the BIOS may not be updated.

This is a great board. The temp issues... yea I hated it. But wasn't enough reason to sell. :(

I would do the DFI infinity over the TForce as they are in the same price range.

Newegg has been shipping the DFI's with incompatible BIOS versions. First review:

Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2Rating + 2 Incompatible

Pros: none couldnt use it

Cons: Incompatible with the AMD Brisbane Processors

It also has a lower DDR2 standard-533/667 versus 800-this might come in handy as I have the Kingston DDR2 900 Hyper X 1GB set.

I would not go with newegg reviews.

No board had any Brisbane Bios updates and they all worked as soon as you popped it in. The Bios is actually only for temps. I believe that is the case with most bios updates.

There were a couple others I read that were more convincing-one talking about DFI sending a new chip out to a customer that was updated. I read about that elsewhere as well. On the other hand I see a few folks with the 550 not having any issues with x2 3600s. I'll read the respective forums for each.

Yes, Eq is off with Brisbanes because of the changes that AMD made to how it reports temps but it will be fixed as they have already on at least another AM2 mobo.

yes, it will be replaced by the AN-M2HD when nVidia gets the new IGP chipset out but I don't know where you read that it won't get an updated BIOS?
abit recently issued a new BIOS for the AV8 iirc which is something like 3 years old & as AM2 is going to be current for quite some while I expect to see several more BIOS for the nF-M2 series.

Well, after messaging with MassiveOverkill and what you've said here I'm sticking with it for now. Hopefully a fix will come quickly.

You can do much higher than that.

This thing can easily do 300FSB.

I had my 3600 @ 2.4 at stock V. I was easly able to go to 2.6-2.8 at slightly higher V

Should-but at the moment I can't get it to pass at all. I'm suspecting RAM settings, but I'm not sure. Kind of pushing it off for the moment. Just for s-n-g's here's the info:

3600 @ stock V
1GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 900 (I've set the voltage to 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2-timings at 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-12, all don't test well.
HTT is set to auto.
External clock is at 228.

The system posts but doesn't pass Orthos for anything-longest I've had it run is 10 minutes.
