Help with adding new HD to system

Hey everyone, I just bought a 36gb WD Raptor and was hoping to add it to my system. Currently I have a Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive as my primary drive. It only has one partiton on it. I am looking to make the Wd Raptor my primary drive and put windows and a few games on it. The 250 gig drive would be for games, pics, music etc.

My question is what will be necessary to accomplish this?
I know i need to reformat the 120gb drive
Whats the best way to reformat the drive? ( Im using windows xp pro x32)
Is there a proper way to physically connect the hd's to the mobo to designate preferred drive order?
After hooking everything up, how do i designate the WD raptor as the primary windows drive? (sorry Im new to SATA and multiple hd's)
At what point do i choose which hd gets windows?

I has some other questions but I think this will do for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
 
I would install windows with only the raptor plugged in, and with it plugged into the sata 1 port, then use the bios to make sure its the primary boot hard disk. Then, once you finish installing windows go ahead and plug the 250 in and use the disk manager in windows to format it.
Just in case you don't know hwere the disk manager is, right click on my computer, the click on manage, then about halfway down there should be a disk management click on that and you're homefree.
 
thank you very much for the response!!!!!!!! One more question is that my hd currently appears in the safely remove devices icon on the taskbar. Is this nomal or did i make a mistake?
 
The reason it shows up there is because of the hot swap ability that sata has, it makes it safer to hotswap the drive when you use that function.
