i've been using and loving an Acer 2423 for about a year now. but recently monitor behaves strangely. if anyone can help me diagnose this, it'd be much appreciated.

when it comes out of stand-by (or when the pc is restarted) it produces a bunch of noise (mostly black) that gradually resolves itself into the desktop image. as it resolves, it looks kind of like the "tracking" we used to use on old VHS tapes (i.e. static in horizontal bars that move up and down, first quickly and then more slowly.) eventually, I always get the monitor back; but it seems to be getting worse...as if the monitor's reception of the signal from the card is somehow deteriorating.

i run it one the DVI cable, but the same thing happens if I switch inputs. (the card is a 7900GS, and everything seems to work fine either on a CRT alternative or another lcd.)

is this thing broke?

thanks in advance for any attention.

gets worse and worse...seems now to take 3-5 minutes to resolve into a stable image.

anyone have any idea what this sounds like?
