For as long as I can remember running an aftermarket sound card has always slowed the boot process for me. I recently decided to install intel toolbox and verify my firmware was up to date and run the optimizer (trim). After this the boot time was reduced A LOT.. I thought I must have fixed something with the firmware update. The windows load logo got about a half a rotation before it went in instead of the 4 or 5 rotations it usually does.. this was awesome. This lasted for days until I started playing with my overclock again.. just voltage changes in the bios and all of a sudden the slower boot times are back. I did some reading an realized I never installed the NVME driver.. I had some trouble installing the Intel NVME driver but finally got it to show in device manager but boot times are not improved. Hell even the benchmarks dropped a little with NVME installed. What I have always noticed during my bootups was during the windows load screen the sound card would pop through the speakers. When the PC was booting fast it didn't do this. Any ideas?

Take the sound card out and uninstall the drivers/utilities and see if the boot up speed improves.
I will give that a go.. just wierd it was working fine all of a sudden with it installed and only change I made was firmware to the Intel and hitting the Trim button. Just playing around with OC slowed it back down to where it's been since I had it. So weird.

Sound card popping I have seen before on Asus and Creative cards. It's basically the driver loading and initializing the card during boot, happens most of the time with sounds cards the have external power plugs. The older Creative cards had a similar problem in Win7 where the driver loaded halfway through the welcome chime, drive us all nuts.
Yeah.. its always been there and I have come to expect it.. what is odd is when all of a sudden it started booting very very quickly into windows that pop went away.. my sound card still functioned just fine. Just a really odd thing.. this fast boot came out of no where after the firmware update on the Intel 750 400gb PCIe card. I can't duplicate it now.. sux lol.
