Ok, I'm basically done building my new system, just need to get another mobo because the one I bought was DOA, just my luck eh? Wanted soemthing for some gaming and for school work while going on the cheap side. Here's what I gots...

AMD Athlon XP 2500+
ECS K7VTA3 Version 6.0
Western Digital 100 GB / 8 MB cache Spec. Ed. ATA 100
PNY Optima PC2700 768MB total
Gigabyte Radeon 9200 128 MB
Sound Blaster Live 5.1
Floppy, DVD-ROM, CD/RW, CD-ROM,
450 Watt PS
Patinum ATX Silver Midtower Case w/ 2 LEDS and 1 Light Tube.

Spent $349.98 on it and figuring in another $50 for a new motherboard will bring me to $399.98 (didn't really plan on paying $90 for a working motherboard). So how did I do even with me having to go out and get a new motherboard?

Yeah but I bought the 2500+ brand new in the retail box for $45 shipped. So really couldn't pass up on that deal. And I hear that it's a nice lil OC'ing chip when I decide to go that route.

Meh, 2500+ is more bang-for-the-buck than a 2800+ anyway. I say you did the right thing as far as the processor goes. Anyway... :D

I say you did good. Pretty nice price. If you're open to recommendations for the mobo, I just built a system for my girlfriend using Shuttle's nForce 2 ultra 400 motherboard which I got from newegg for $54 (retail packaging too). It went with her mobile 2400+ very nicely, 2.5 ghZ was a breeze. It may not have all of the fancy little things the high end ones do, but it's a good overclocking board and is great for its price.
