help with 940be overclock!

im having a "brick wall" problem...i cant seem to get my system stable at anything over 3.6ghz, the motherboard is in my sig, and m3n78-vm, its got most of the overclocking features but it wont let me raise the voltage any higher then 1.45v, i feel safe going up to 1.55 and i think that will fix it but im not 100% sure. at 3.6ghz and 1.4v i can run prime95 large ffts for maximum heat for about 5 min before it fails, at 1.45 it runs for my full stability test (20min) anything less and it will fail in seconds but even at stock i can do almost anything except run prime95 large fft's.

my real questions are, Can i get this to 4ghz, it boots and i can play around at 4ghz but if i leave it for about 15 min it will get the bsod and if i run prime95 it just bsod's. and is there any way i can increase the voltage more to find out if it is the voltage holding it back? I also dont know what most of the cpu settings are, like the virtual machine setting and the prefetching setting, there are a couple more but i cant remember them :(

one more thing is that i can only change the voltage from stock 1.35 to 1.4 to 1.45, no in between settings at all, same with northbridge votages

wow, no responses, oh well, i figured it out. The ram was undervolted some, i had the ram overclocked a little but now i undid that and im stable at 3.8ghz, havent tried 4ghz again but thats a goal for when i have more time ;)
 
you wont hit 4 ghz on air with a phenom II 940.. also you should be able to exceed the 1.45v limit.. there should be an option to change the CPU VID.. if not.. then use amd overdrive to change the cpu VID so you can get over 1.45v.. though your processor will only be overclocked once you boot into windows doing it like that..


also.. if you find the option to change the vid.. which by default is 1.15v i believe.. or atleast it was on my system.. everytime you increase the VID it increases that same amount ontop of what you already set the motherboard voltage too.. so say if you have your motherboard voltage set to 1.45v then change the cpu vid from 1.15 to 1.25 your total voltage will now be 1.55v..
 
i have watercooling so no air problem, the water is in my sig ;) amd overdrive doesnt work, it says that i dont have a 7 series chipset and asus ai just gets a cant detect fsb error and then crashes, im ok with 3.8 right now but i still cant pass a prime large fft test, i can pass my edited version of hyper pi, my friend made it go to 64 million digits, just to make sure it isnt giving me bad data, i plan on doing some f@h soon but first i need to figure out how to keep my video card oc and keep it passive
